Why Are You Here?

Welcome to The Listening House
I’m Tracy Harvey, a professional counsellor offering private therapy through my practice, The Listening House, in Leigh-on-sea – a welcoming, confidential place where you can feel safe to talk and be yourself.
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting and you may not be sure where to begin. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, sad, depressed or simply in need of a space where you can be heard without judgment. Whatever has brought you here, you are not alone.

A Dedicated Space for Your Story
Life can be complex, painful and frustrating at times but lasting change can develop through a genuine therapeutic relationship. I will walk alongside you as an equal, respecting that you remain the true expert in your own life.
My comfortable and discreet therapy room in Leigh-on-Sea has been thoughtfully established to allow you the time and safety to explore difficult feelings. It is a place where you can be truly heard, and where you can begin to make sense of your experiences at a pace that is right for you.

Common Difficulties I Work With
Feeling Stuck or Overwhelmed
When life feels overwhelming or uncertain and you’re not sure where to begin, counselling offers a calm and comfortable space to slow down, reflect and gently make sense of what you’re experiencing.
Difficult Emotions
Anxiety, low mood, anger, grief or shame. Counselling can help you better understand your emotions and develop healthier, more compassionate ways of managing them.
Relationships and Patterns
Helping you to develop greater awareness of recurring relationship difficulties and how these patterns may have been shaped by earlier experiences, creating opportunities for healthier and more fulfilling connections.
Past Experiences Shaping the Present
Using a psychodynamic approach to explore how earlier experiences and relationships may continue to influence your thoughts, feelings and responses in the present.
Searching for Meaning and Clarity
When you’re reflecting on bigger questions around purpose, direction or identity and need a supportive space to explore your thoughts openly and without judgement.
Everyday Coping and Grounding Tools
Practical tools and techniques informed by CBT, including grounding, breathing and awareness exercises to help you feel calmer, more centred and better able to cope with life’s difficult moments.

Finding Your Way
Life can be challenging, painful and overwhelming at times. Counselling won’t change the past but within a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, it can help you understand yourself more deeply, discover new perspectives and find a way forward that feels right for you. I won’t tell you what to do or pretend to have all the answers. Instead, I’ll walk alongside you with warmth, curiosity and respect, recognising that you are the expert in your own life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Each 50-minute session is £50. Payment is required 24 hours in advance. Cancellation policy is available.
Weekly sessions are recommended because they provide a consistent and reliable space for you to reflect, process and build momentum in your therapeutic work. Meeting regularly helps to develop a sense of trust and continuity, allowing you to stay connected to what you are exploring rather than feeling as though you are starting again each time. However, I understand this may not always be possible and attending less than weekly will depend on your circumstances and personal choice.
This depends on you and is a very individual thing. It may be that therapy can help you see things differently in a few sessions or it may be that deep rooted issues require work over a longer period of time. We’ll review your progress regularly to ensure therapy remains relevant and helpful. You are free to end our sessions at any point. My aim is always to support you until you’re ready to move forward confidently on your own.
We will meet face to face in my comfortable, private room in Leigh-on-sea. Please note that as there is no waiting room I kindly request that you arrive at your scheduled appointment time.
I also offer online therapy via Zoom or Teams should this be your preference.
When you’re ready, please contact me via text or email to arrange a free 20-minute phone consultation.
This is a no obligation opportunity to discuss why you want to come to counselling and ask any questions you may have about the process. It will also allow us both to see whether we’re going to feel comfortable working together. Finding the right counsellor for you is really important and the call should help to ensure you’re making the right decision.
Integrative therapy is a flexible and holistic approach to counselling that recognises there is no single method that suits everyone. Instead of working from one fixed model, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and adapt them to meet your individual needs, personality and circumstances. This means together we can explore your thoughts, feelings, past experiences and patterns of behaviour in a way that feels most helpful for you. Integrative therapy looks at the whole person, acknowledging how different aspects of your life connect and influence one another.
